Chinese networking and telecommunications giant Huawei has launched a new inexpensive unlocked smartphone. The Huawei P8 Lite was officially unveiled by Huawei at a press event held in New York on Tuesday.
The new smartphone, which analysts expect to sell in large numbers due to its favorable price point, will be available online at Amazon and GetHuawei, plus in brick and mortar retailer BH Electronics, Target and Fry’s. The price will be $250, with no contract.
As part of a special introductory promotion, Huawei is offering a $50 discount on purchases of the new P8 Lite made within 72 hours. Also, a bonus Huawei Bluetooth dial stereo speaker, $50 airtime and data card, snap on case and Net 10 SIM card will be included for the first purchasers.
What do you get for 250$ these days? Huawei’s P8 Lite features a 5-inch, 720p Corning Gorilla Glass 3 display, powered by a 1.5 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 CPU. The ultra-slim 7.6 mm unibody has a 2.75 mm bezel design, brushed metal back cover and sides, and dual-SIM support.
P8 Lite has a 16BG storage capacity, extendable up to 32GB by using a microSD card. Android 4.4 KitKat is installed and ready to run.
The new smartphone and is the fourth handset which the company has introduced for the North American market, the others being the Ascend Mate2, the P8 and P8 Max.
