Facebook 2009 Revenue To Top $500 Million in Ad Revenue

The big just keep getting bigger, at least if you are Facebook. During an interview with Reuters, Marc Andreessen who is a board member for Facebook said he expects the company's revenue to top $500 million this year and within five years it will have reached over a billion a year.

Currently there are no public stock offerings at Facebook, but he said that it's a little ways off - meaning it's come sooner rather than later. He did say that Facebook is allowing some employee stock sales to Digital Sky, the Russian IT financial group that invested $200 million in Facebook back in May of this year.

Facebook continues to grow in popularity and has already overtaken MySpace in the recent months. It's one of the most recognizable sites on the Internet today with over 225 million users. Is the sky truly the limit for Facebook or will some other social networking site come along to dethrone it? It isn't likely that MySpace or Twitter will be able to compete on such a level but perhaps another new start-up?
