Having launched over two weeks ago, Microsoft Bing is still going strong and continues to grow in popularity. Probably largely thanks to the $100 million dollar Ad campaign that Microsoft has been focused on. From Internet to TV, from Social Networks to Magazines and Newspapers you've undoubtedly seen the Bing ads by now that have blanketed the nation. The millions of dollars being poured into advertising certainly is showing some results according to comScore.
Microsoft sites continue to climb in ranks during the second week of Bing's introduction to the market. During the week of June 8-12, Bing reached 16.7% of searchers, up 3% from a week prior to Bing's launch. Microsoft's share of search result pages increased to 12.1% during the period of June 8-12, also seeing a 3% increase in points.
"It appears that Microsoft Bing has continued to generate interest from the market for the second consecutive week," said Mike Hurt, comScore senior vice president. "These early data reflect a continued positive market reaction to Bing in the initial stages of its launch."
The question that I have brought up before, remains. What happens after the ad campaigns end? Will Bing still continue to grow in market share by word of mouth? Will users still use the search engine or go back to their old ways of using Yahoo or Google?
I honestly haven't used Bing once, since the early release on June 1st. I think a lot of users, me included, are affixed to seeing the results that Google provides. If the results don't look similar to the Google results format that we all are so use to seeing, then something doesn't seem right and we are unsure of the results that are being presented to us.
As always, do you Bing.com?
