The Space Shuttle Atlantis landing for this morning has been postponed until Saturday due to weather conditions at Kennedy Space Center in Florida being unfavorable. The STS-125 mission had two landing times available this morning and neither of the windows will work according to flight controllers.
Norm Knight, STS-125 Entry Fight Director, said the weather conditions would not permit a safe landing, and you don't want anything against you in this line of work. CAPCOM Greg Johnson explained to Commander Scott Altman that weather is real moist, unstable, and officially "no go" due to thunderstorms, low cloud ceilings and showers consistently popping up offshore and over land.
On Saturday, the first landing opportunity at Kennedy is at 9:16 a.m. EDT. Edwards Air Force Base in California will be activated for consideration as well for an alternative to get the Atlantis crew home.
