HP announced today and recalled 70,000 notebook batteries that could catch on fire and cause burn hazards its users. HP customers affected by these programs will be eligible to receive a replacement battery pack for each verified, recalled battery pack at no cost.
"We are taking this action as part of our commitment to provide the highest quality of service to our notebook customers. We are proactively notifying you of this issue and are prepared to replace all verified, affected battery packs." its Battery Recall Web Site said.
The affected notebooks were sold from August 09 through March 2008 with the HP and Compaq branding. Some of the affected models include; HP Pavilion (models dv2000, dv2500, dv2700, dv6000, dv6500, dv6700, dv9000, dv9500 and dv9700); Compaq Presario (models A900, C700, F700, V3000, V3500, V3700, V6000, V6500 and V6700); HP (models G6000 and G7000); and HP Compaq (model 6720S).
