Beginning today May 11th, 2009, it will cost yet another 2 cents more to send a letter, increasing from 42 to 44-cents. The price increase is due to rising operational costs according to the postal service.
The Postal Service is not immune to rising costs which are affecting homes and businesses across America today, said Postmaster General John Potter in a press release. Even with the increases, the Postal Service continues to offer some of the lowest postage prices in the world.
The increase will cost the average American family another $3 bucks a year on average.
How can you help battle the costs on rising stamps? You have two options;
1. Buy Forever Stamps - buy these and never pay more for stamps when they go up. The downside, you'll run out one day.
2. Email Anyone? - Stop sending bills through the mail and begin getting e-statements and pay your bills online. It really saves me a lot of time and hassle - and not to mention money.
Do you still use stamps? Can't remember the last time I had to buy one..
