Google announced on Friday that it would be running TV ads over this weekend to promote its Google Chrome web browser. The video which was created by the Google Japan team produced a lot of positive feedback and comments from viewers - enough so that Google plans to air it on TV in order to get the word out of its new browser.
The 30 second clip shows how to install the new browser as well as demonstrates how clean and simple Chrome is. "We were looking for ways to increase awareness about browsers and Chrome," Ellen West - Google Communications director said.
The ad is very eye-catching and very, Google-like. During the ad, you will find that it never once indicates what 'Chrome' is. The non-technical audience may find it hard to understand what Chrome actually is to be used for but perhaps the Google brand will be enough to make them further research the product.
Either way, I like Google and it's always interesting to see their products advertised on TV - even if I don't use their browser.
