Apple and Verizon to Unveil iPhone Lite and Media Pad Device

The new Apple iPhone Lite and new Netbook "Media Pad" have been confirmed by Business Week and point to a deal with Verizon Wireless. The report suggests that Verizon would be offering the new iPhone as early as next year.

In February we had reported the new tablet device that Apple was working on but instead of being a tablet or netbook it's being called a "Media Pad" as a means to listen to music, view photos, and watch HD videos as well as Internet connectivity like found on Netbooks today.

A lot of things are still unclear; like how will the new iPhone Lite compete with the current offerings from AT&T? Would the Lite be a stripped down version of the original iPhone? One would think so, considering it is the 'Lite' version - meaning less features for less money. However, Apple has repeatedly said it had no interest of selling crappy phones or devices. So it couldn't be to dumbed down too much.

As for the Media Pad, we know a lot from the patent and from it we can tell its a pretty smart device. We think its to compete with Netbooks, but not official called a Netbook as Apple still has no interest in that market as they say. However, it would probably come paired with a data plan subscription from Verizon to run on the 3G or 4G network.
