NASA has scheduled the Discovery Shuttle launch, despite that some high-level NASA engineers believe the shuttle should remain grounded. However, NASA mission managers are preparing to set Wednesday at the new launch date.
The launch of the shuttle was originally slated for February 12th but was later delayed due to an engine issue. Then it was delayed yet again for NASA to gather more information about the engine issue.
During the past month NASA engineers were asked to study if the valves were to crack during launch, would it result in a fatal accident and they determined it would not. If the valves cracked at launch the shuttle could still reach orbit.
NASA mission managers should announce the official launch date today. If they continue as planned, the countdown will begin Sunday for a 9:20PM launch date on Wednesday night.
