Craigslist Sued For Allowing Prostitution Ads

Thomas Dart of the Cook County Sheriff Department in Illinois has sued the popular online ad site, Craigslist accusing its owner of knowingly promoting prostitution in the United States. According to Dart, CraigsList was failing to prevent offers to trade sex for money.

"Craigslist is an extremely unwise choice for those intent on committing crimes, since criminals inevitably leave an electronic trail to themselves that law enforcement officers will follow" a spokeswoman for CraigsList stated.

During an interview with Dart he stated that "Craigslist is the single largest source of prostitution in the nation".

"I could make arrests off Craigslist 24 hours a day, but to what end?" By filing the suit, he said, "I'm trying to go up the ladder." Dart went on to say.

According to Dart ads show up on Craigslist in the following ways: "15 min $50 roses.. 1 hour $150 roses" and we all know what that means.

The Sheriff is asking the judge to force CraigsList to reimburse the sheriff's department for $100,000 it has spent pursuing its Craigslist investigation over past year or two.

I'm sure this won't be the end of the Craigslist prostitution ring, we will provide further updates as we receive them.
