AMD has released a video of the AMD 6-Core Opteron codename "Istanbul" which is scheduled for a debut in Q3 or Q4 of 2009. The video shows 24 logical processors in Windows running, four six-core Opteron processors, under an AMD load test software. The CPU runs on the 45nm fabrication and includes a new HyperTransport Assist feature that will help boost the bandwidth between the RAM and the processors for added performance.
We should expect to hear a more formal release of the new Operton processor soon.
