Want a sneak peak of Windows Mobile 6.5? Now you can thanks to a video posted on YouTube, that shows a video of Windows Mobile 6.5 (Build 21159.5.0.0) which is running on a HTC Touch HD.
The video shows the new "Honeycomb" user interface and the new home screen.
The 6.5 version will be a minor upgrade to the existing Windows Mobile platform. Despite being an incremental update however, it is said to include significant new added features. It will also include the new Internet Explorer Mobile browser dubbed IE "6 On 6". Microsoft is expected to unveil this version at the 2009 Mobile World Congress in February, and Motorola expects to release a phone running Windows Mobile 6.5 in the second half of 2009.
Not too far behind 6.5 will be Windows Mobile 7. Codenamed "Photon", Windows Mobile 7 is a major upgrade that should come out around 2010. This release will include a revamped UI, multi-touch and motion-related features. Companies such as MWg and HTC are expected to release Windows Mobile Professional devices supporting this version. Features include redesigned interface, new Office Mobile version, next Internet Explorer Mobile, accelerometer functionality with interface (gestures), new media player version. Microsoft has somewhat confirmed the leaks, showing the homescreen during a commercial of their Live Mesh software operating on what appears to be an HTC Touch Dual. The homescreen resembles that of version 6.1, and possibly 6.5. Microsoft also plans on bringing some form of Zune functionality or software to this version.
