RealNetworks Now Powers V CAST Video from Verizon Wireless

RealNetworks, the digital entertainment services company, today announced that it has become the power behind Verizon Wireless' V CAST Video service. The service transitioned to Real's platform -- based on Helix technology and customized specifically to meet Verizon's needs -- in January 2009.

"We view this successful transition as evidence of our growing leadership in delivering carrier-grade digital entertainment services to mobile operators," said Vern Poyner, senior vice president, RealNetworks. "The transition was simple for subscribers and shows off the power of our technology."

Real's ASP services are currently available through 80 different mobile operators in 42 countries worldwide, making them available to 797.1 million subscribers. Real offers mobile operators a comprehensive selection of mobile services including: Music-On-Demand; Video-On-Demand; personalization features such as Ringtones, Ringback Tones and Multimedia Ringback Services; and messaging services.

Is it just me or am I the only one that doesn't like RealNetworks' technology? I have always disliked their RealPlayer and other software that has made its way onto my computer. I only hope for the sake of Verizon's customers, that I'm the only one that feels this way.
