Dell Developing Android & Windows Based Smartphones?

New reports have been burning the Internet pipes as of late that indicate Dell may be developing a couple smartphones featuring both Android and Windows Mobile platforms. The prototypes, seen by anonymous source, indicate that it may include a touchscreen based model and a separate model with a slide-out keyboard. We would imagine the slide-out for the Android and a touchscreen for the Windows mobile device. According to the source, Dell has been working on the smart phones for well over a year.

Some analysts believe its an extremely risking move. For one, Dell would have to compete with Apple, Samsung, Nokia, Palm, and HTC as well as many other popular smartphone companies. However, all of these companies have done it why couldn't Dell? One has to wonder if its the best move, especially when economic conditions are not favorable.

It would be great for consumers to have another company out there competing, bringing in more innovation - hopefully and consumers of course wouldn't might the price wars if the Dell Smartphone can compete with the big boys.
