Digital TV Transition Delay Bill Inevitable

The Digital Television, or DTV switchover delay is inevitable now. The switch over from analog to digital was panned to take place February 17th to free up airwaves but now it looks like the transition will be pushed back to June 12th.

Nielsen has reported that more than 6.5 million American households are not ready for the transition and would be staring at blank screens come February 17 if the date remained unmoved.

The shameful truth is that we are not poised to do this transition right, stated John D. Rockefeller, who authored the delay bill. We are only weeks away from doing it dreadfully wrong, he warned in an AP report, and leaving consumers with the consequences.

The delay bill is expected to pass through the Senate in the next few days before being passed on to the House.
