ATT Apple iPhone 3G for $99 is Here

The $99 iPhone is here, but not quite like everyone expected. ATT is now offering a $99 black 8GB iPhone 3G (refurbished) and a $199 black 16GB iPhone 3G (refurbished) but still no sign of the iPhone Nano. It was originally thought that a new iPhone, likely with 2GB of memory would have been sold at Walmart, but instead Walmart will be selling new iPhones at $197.

The ATT Wireless website states the following that refurbished phones are previously owned devices that have been unused or lightly used and returned during the 30-day trial period. Each refurbished phone is independently quality tested and loaded with the latest software to meet current factory standards. Some refurbished iPhone 3G devices will have minor scratches. Refurbished iPhone 3G devices carry a warranty of 90 days or more.

You must activate the phone with a 2-year contract and the sale ends December 31st. There is speculation that they are clearing inventory to make room possibly for the new iPhone Nano that we have yet seen.
