The new update to Apple's Leopard operating system which was released earlier this week is causing all kinds of problems for Mac users. Problems range from broken Bluetooth connections to popping noises during boot-up and even completely dead USB ports.
The update improves printing under CS3, printing under USB-based Brother and Canon printers. IT also improves Safari compatibility with Web proxy servers, improved reliability of Time Machine with Time Capsule and fixed a bug that could cause Time Machine to state the backup volume could not be found.
"Post 10.5.6 I get a loud pop during the very end of the grey startup screen or right after the time verbose mode goes to a blue screen," one user wrote on the Apple forums.
Another forum user wrote: "When I press the power button I can hear a sound of something spinning inside it (sound like the cooler) and the main led light in front it turns on permanently (doesn't blink as would in sleeping mode) and nothing happens. Display stays black."
We recommend holding off on the new update until Apple addresses the issue.
