Verizon Wireless iPhone Not Ruled Out

Even after Verizon Wirelesss in your face iDont ads for the Droid phone, Ivan Seidenberg, Verizons CEO, said he is interested in getting Apples smartphone on his network, all the while boasting of their other smartphones, like the Blackberry Bold 2 and the Motorola Droid.

"We obviously would be interested at any point in the future that they would be interested in having us as a partner", Seidenberg said in Mondays quarterly earnings conference call. "This is a decision that is exclusively in Apples court. Our view is to broaden the base of choice for customers, and hopefully, along the way, Apple, as well as others, will decide to jump on the bandwagon", he added.

This is the same executive who turned Apple down when the iPhone first came out. Now he is trying to save face by making it look like Apple is the one who is digging in their heels with unreasonable demands. Verizons 3rd quarter 2009 performance did somewhat beat analysts expected numbers, with the wireless units profits holding up due in part to cheaper prepaid plans.

1.2 million wireless subscribers were added in the quarter, compared to AT&Ts 2 million added, a great many of them iPhone users no doubt. Verizon customers are typically loyal, but the lure of the iPhone is strong enough to have them jumping ship for AT&T. So, Apple, don't take our insults personally, its just business.
