Photoshop App for iPhone Unveiled

A free app Photoshop for the iPhone has been released by Abobe. Photoshop Mobile for iPhone lets you do basic cropping and rotating of pictures taken with your iPhone. Support for filters, saturation and vibrancy editing is also included. It is available in the US and Canada now. Another cool thing about the app is you can open up an account at Photoshop.com for free and upload and store up to 2 GB worth of photos, which is around 1500 images. All your images at Photoshop.com can be shared with other people right from your iPhone. A few of the filters available convert color snaps to black and white, adda warm vintage tone, create vignette effects and soft focus.

As the digital imaging leader, Adobe is excited to bring Photoshop.com Mobile to iPhone users, says Doug Mack, vice president and general manager of Consumer and Hosted Solutions at Adobe. Now, with access to powerful editing and sharing tools, iPhone users are armed with the resources to document all of lifes unexpected moments, make them look their best and then re-live those memories with friends and family.

True, the iPhone only has a 3 megapixel camera, but the new Photoshop app is free, after all, so you might as well try it out. All of sliders, buttons and drop down controls you are used to in the desktop version are replaced by a gesture and touch controlled interface, which in itself is worthy of study for app developers. I find the timing of the relase interesting, as it comes just after AT&T finally enabled MMS for the iPhone.
