Microsoft Releases Windows Vista Service Pack 2 Beta

Microsoft today announced it would be making Service Pack 2 beta available for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 today for MSDN and TechNet subscribers. On Thursday they plan to release the new service pack to the firm's Customer Preview Program (CPP). There have been reports that the new service pack will be available to all around April of 2009.

SP2 for Windows Vista incorporates new improvements discovered through the automated feedback from the Customer Experience Improvement Program in addition to all of the updates released since Windows Vista SP1. SP2 for Vista will come in around 302MB in size for the 32-bit version and 508MB for the 64-bit version. Among the new features are Bluetooth v2.1, Windows Connect Now an approved WiFi manager, support for exFAT or FAT64, and support for VIA's Nano CPU.
