Casio Unveils EX-Z450 and EX-Z90 Point And Shoot Cameras

Casio has unveiled its new point-and-shoot line of cameras that will be available this fall. The new Casio 12.1 megapixel Exilim EX-Z450 and EX-Z90 ultra thin point-and-shoot cameras offer advanced face detection as well as HD video and a new feature we saw unveiled earlier this year at CES.

With basic point-and-shoot cameras on the market, the face detection is great when shooting people but when shooting non-human subjects like flowers, animals, and buildings for example its very inaccurate and can cause the photo to become unfocused. Casio has changed the technology behind the face detection feature so that this issue is never a problem again and when focusing on non-human subjects the photo is focused and properly exposed.

As always, with the Exilim line of cameras you will get an ultra small compact camera choc full of features. One other interesting feature that these little cameras poses is the Dynamic Photo Mode which allows you to capture a short video of a moving subject and then remove the background from the scene and replace it with a new background of your choice.

The EX-Z450 is a 12.1-megapixel camera with a 4X optical zoome, image stabilization, and has a 3-inch LCD. It has enough battery life for 550 shots and will sell for $199.99.

At a slightly more attractive price is the EX-Z90 which comes with a smaller 2.7-inch LCD, 3X optical zoom, and a battery life of 230 photos. The EX-Z90 will set you back $149.99.

Both of the two cameras are capable of recording 720p HD video at 24 FPS.

Look for the two new cameras to hit store shelves in October.
