Adobe Flash for iPhone Coming But When?

Apple has told Adobe that the ball is in their court to come up with the technology to place Adobe Flash on the iPhone. Steve Jobs has said it before that the normal Flash runs too slowly for his liking and the lightweight alternative Flash Lite, isn't capable enough to be used with the Web. Therefore, Jobs has called in Adobe to create a specific version just for the iPhone that is optimized enough to run quickly but also powerful enough to give users what they expect from Flash.

"It's a hard technical challenge and that is part of the reason why Apple and Adobe are collaborating" said Apple's iPhone CEO Shantanu Narayen. "The ball is in our court."

Flash for the iPhone isn't new. Adobe said back in September that there would be releasing a version "in a very short time" if Apple approved it. That time has since come and gone so either Apple rejected it because it didn't meant their high quality and standards or Adobe themselves decided to take it back to the drawing boards.

So the real question is when? We tried reaching Adobe and were unable to reach them relating to questions around Flash for the iPhone. If we hear something, we'll let you know.
